I started to take 500mg of Acetyl-L-Carninite at the weekend, with 300mg of phosphatidylserine – I also started drinking yerba mate tea. Bloody hell, I was at my mum’s house when I first drank the yerba mate tea, and didn’t stop talking. That definitely has a short term impact on energy levels and clarity.
I suffer terribly from sinus headaches and they normally cause terrible brain fog, and I feel like the swelling forces my eyes half-shut. Since I started taking the nootropics, my sinuses still really hurt but my eyes feel wide open and I feel really awake in the mornings. I also smile a lot, even though my head is normally killing me.
I keep saying things impulsively too, which is kinda of weird, normally good, but think I insulted two lads in the gym by saying “I’m sure I’ve seen you 2 on the German TV channels” when they were doing a weird partner-ab-exercise.
I’ve also been loads more chatty than normal. I’m usually pretty quiet – so it’s definitely something new that’s happened. Thought it was because I started a new job this week, but stomach and acid reflux has been really bad. Fear that this may be due to the nootropics, having just reread up on the side effects. Today I didn’t have any caffeine, just the 2 nootropics and felt mentally clear for most of the day. Struggled a bit at the end of the day in work. I normally hammer the coffee and decongestants just to get through the day and beat the brain-fog caused by my sinusitis, so this seems to be a massive improvement. I had yerba mate tea the two days before, but I’ve cut that out today because I’ve been struggling to sleep for more than 4 or 5 hours. Going to cut out the phosphatidylserine tomorrow, and see if my stomach gets any better.
March 3rd Update
Reduced the phosphatidylserine to around 100mg in the morning (about 1/3rd of a tablet).
I’m also splitting the ALCAR up, and having about 500mg a day.
Feel great. Very alert, muscles are less sore, recovery is better. Stomach is okay now too.
Need to keep reading up and researching if it’s safe to use long term. If my kidney falls out, I’ll be sure to update the blog post
