{"id":1732,"date":"2014-06-09T11:36:24","date_gmt":"2014-06-09T11:36:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blackbeltwhitehat.com\/?page_id=1732"},"modified":"2014-06-10T10:12:35","modified_gmt":"2014-06-10T10:12:35","slug":"bjj-takedowns","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blackbeltwhitehat.com\/en\/mma-articles\/technique\/bjj-takedowns\/","title":{"rendered":"BJJ Takedowns"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Takedowns for BJJ<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There is SO MUCH to learn in BJJ, just on the deck, that takedowns are often an after-thought.<\/p>\n<p>For self defence however, takedowns are arguably the most important aspect, and if you ever compete as a white belt, a good takedown can often win you a match.<\/p>\n<p>Ideally you&#8217;d do a bit of judo for gi, and wrestling for no-gi takedowns.<br \/>\nIf you are old and knackered like me though, getting thrown around is the last thing you want.<br \/>\nSo I&#8217;ve compiled a list of effective takedowns that you (and me), can practice and drill. You might want to invest in a crash mat though:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>No-Gi Takedowns<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <strong>Headsnap into double leg<\/strong><br \/>\nSee this video from 40 seconds:<br \/>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; Gi Takedowns<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Foot sweeps and hip\/rotating throws appear to work best for the Gi. \u00a0It&#8217;s pretty difficult to shoot for a double leg once someone has hold of your top.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211;
