Nothing quite compares to the excitement and the beauty of watching or being part of a technical fight (emphasis on technical, not a fan of slug-fests personally). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grappling does ruin your body though, all those isometric contractions, pushing &amp; pulling on your neck, heavy take downs &#8211; landing in awkward positions. They take their toll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m also a big yoga fan. My body was a complete wreck (and my mind) whilst just doing heavy weights + MMA. I used to do Ashtanga yoga, which is almost like a hybrid between yoga &amp; a bit of a circuit; also went to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yogaholidaysgreece.com\/\">yoga rocks<\/a> for a retreat on our honeymoon and done quite a bit of <a href=\"https:\/\/blackbeltwhitehat.com\/2017\/10\/24\/what-is-kundalini-yoga\/\">Kundalini Yoga<\/a> &#8211; which is proper mental. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I stretch every day before work and during my lunch hour &#8211; I&#8217;m lucky in that we have a gym and I can wear shorts to work! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"color:#a31400;\" class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Be careful with Yoga &#8211; You can get injured easily if you push too far to begin with!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Yoga + Stretching Routine for MMA (Daily)<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>World&#8217;s Greatest Stretch. This is a great all-round stretch. Stretching the hips flexors, stretch, back and neck. This is the &#8216;base&#8217; of my stretching routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After each stretch, I hold the down-dog position for 5 seconds, before moving to the other side to do the World&#8217;s Greatest stretch again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The World&#8217;s greatest stretch, is my &#8216;bread &amp; butter&#8217; stretch. You also need flexible hips for high-kicks. This, in addition to dynamic stretching, will help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>Shoulder Bridge<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; hold for 20 seconds. I don&#8217;t do it first thing in the morning for that reason. I also rarely fully extend my arms, as it starts to pinch my back if I do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s great for stretching the hip-flexors and chest, it also helps to build isometric strength in the deltoids\/shoulders. If you sit down all day at work, this also helps counter the hunched-over-posture that will inevitably start to develop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>Dying Warrior Pose<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; Hold for 1 minute, each side.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-rich wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; recovery, is to site down whilst watching TV in the evenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are the stretches\/yoga poses that I tend to do each evening:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Paleo Squat<br>Just squat in mid air, and try and hold for 5 minutes.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sufi Grinds<br>Basically a rotation\/circling of the hips<br>In this position I also arch by back and look up and then round my back &amp; look down &#8211; almost like the happy-cat &amp; angry cat posts but from a seated position<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-rich wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; They&#8217;re good for different issues!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Foam Roller<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Great for calves and upper back. I usually point it at my neck in the evenings for 15 mins. Probably a bit of a fire hazard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-black-color has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Supplements for Aching &amp; Stiff Muscles<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For those of you who have constant niggling muscle aches &amp; pains, these supplements have also helped me&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-blue-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Kava Kava<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Loved by the pacific islanders, this drink is also popular in Hawaii and California. Unfortunately, it&#8217;s now illegal in the UK (sometimes find it on ebay still).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s almost definitely the best natural muscle relaxant available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-blue-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Kratom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A very controversial supplement\/plant. Red &amp; green strains are great for muscle relaxation. Banned in 2016 in the UK<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-blue-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Baking Soda<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good for muscle soreness.
