This will typically be the experience that can be described as the &#8220;worst time of your life&#8221; (so far).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do this four times,&nbsp;either on consecutive days or with a week between each session.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be honest and truthful in your writing but don&#8217;t worry about grammar, spelling etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Include facts about the experience,&nbsp;your emotions,&nbsp;and any links that come to mind.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Huberman emphasizes that the protocol is not about changing the past,&nbsp;but about changing your relationship with the past.&nbsp;By writing about your experiences,&nbsp;you can gain a new perspective on them and reduce their negative impact on your life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The video\/podcast also discusses the science that supports and informs the protocol.\u00a0Andrew Huberman explains that writing about trauma can lead to changes in the brain that reduce, or at least change, activty that occurs in the prefrontal cortex,\u00a0an area of the brain that is associated with stress and anxiety. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are some additional details from the podcast\/video:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This specific journaling protocol has been shown to be effective for people of all ages and backgrounds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The protocol can be used to address a wide range of stressful experiences,&nbsp;including trauma,&nbsp;grief,&nbsp;and loss.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t use the journaling as a substitute to professional help.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don&#8217;t think this was mentioned in the video, but the book &#8220;The Body Keeps the Score&#8221; is related, in that it describes and details how trauma has a lasting impact on the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have done 2 days of journaling &#8211; I felt pretty tired and emotional after the second session.
