They throw a combo and come away fruitless. It would be interesting to see somebody apply the &#8216;Dutch kickboxing&#8217; methodology of ending punch combinations with low kicks to the legs.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t recall anyone trying to batter Jones&#8217; legs at all with low round-kicks. \u00a0This style could test his leg-conditioning, and try and bridge the range at the same time.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Mix up your Rhythm<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong>Jones is a master at reading and predicting fighters. \u00a0Mix up your speed of attack, mix up your set ups, and throw some stuff in there just to confuse him. \u00a0For example, dummy the takedown even if you have no intention of shooting. \u00a0Feint as if you are going to throw a spinning strike (even if you&#8217;re not going to), and throw a high kick just to give him something to think about &#8211; get him\u00a0fighting on two fronts.<\/p>\n<p>See B<a href=\"http:\/\/freebrucelee.com\/martial-arts\/five-ways-attack-developed-bruce-lee-jeet-kune-do\/\" target=\"_blank\">ruce Lee&#8217;s five ways of attack<\/a> for more ideas &#8211; and mix up the five methods, drawing, feinting, combinations, single attacks etc.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oTO6abQFs14?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Elbows on the Inside?<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong>After the oblique kicks, Jones&#8217; stand out techniques are elbows &#8216;inside the pocket&#8217;. \u00a0Whoever is picked to face Jones, should work extensively on countering elbows, or at least train using their own. \u00a0Try some of Bas Rutten&#8217;s tips to surprise Jones &#8211; use a palm strike, and (perhaps) try using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/themuaythaiguy\/videos\/656401674506204\/\" target=\"_blank\">clothesline<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trapping, and wing chun\/JKD should also be carefully studied. \u00a0Jones is one of the few people to embrace these styles.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; elbow just above the elbow joint.<\/p>\n<p>So you pivot to the outside, pull the arm towards you by pulling the guys wrist towards you, and smash the elbow away using your own elbow on the other arm.<\/p>\n<p>You can also strike the inside of the bicep to give a dead arm.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oknO3NTeGNo?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;start=39&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Holding an arm out, also opens up the rib cage for kicks. Perhaps a bit risky. You could however <strong>change lead-legs<\/strong>\u00a0so that your lead legs are matching (orthodox to southpaw, or vice versa) and try an oblique kick of your own to Jon&#8217;s front knee.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Be Unconventional<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong>Jones has a go-to answer for most of the standard techniques seen in MMA. So you may\u00a0need to take a risk to beat him. \u00a0Look to JKD, Krav Maga, Keysi, Judo and Savate for some techniques that will suit your body-type and style.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jones will also start to &#8220;read&#8221; you if you keep repeating any technique,<\/strong> or keep defending in a particular way, so mix it up.<br \/>\nDC should obviously move forwards to get into range, but he needs to mix things up a bit if possible. Feinting, and even drawing Jones to strike first. \u00a0Good <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZcXdg2kBZAs\" target=\"_blank\">video <\/a>here about using drawing to fight taller guys.<\/p>\n<p>DC ran into trouble when he was static, just outside of his own range, and Jones was able to land kicks. I guess circling (let&#8217;s say to the right), and having a counter ready for any strike Jones may throw from his left-hand-side (you can walk into headkicks, and hooking strikes if you circle all the time)<\/p>\n<p>I like Jones as a fighter, and he seems nice when interviewed, but he is basically the UFC&#8217;s equivalent of Justin Bieber and is dangerously irresponsible.<\/p>\n<p>Please, someone, leather him.
