{"id":5335,"date":"2016-07-11T11:50:21","date_gmt":"2016-07-11T11:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blackbeltwhitehat.com\/?p=5335"},"modified":"2016-07-12T20:12:38","modified_gmt":"2016-07-12T20:12:38","slug":"ufc-200-brock-lesnar-vs-mark-hunt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blackbeltwhitehat.com\/en\/2016\/07\/11\/ufc-200-brock-lesnar-vs-mark-hunt\/","title":{"rendered":"UFC 200 &#8211; Technical Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I only saw the Mark Hunt V Brock Lesnar fight, and the main event &#8211; Meisha Tate V Amanda Nunes<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 class=\"watch-title-container\"><span id=\"eow-title\" class=\"watch-title\" dir=\"ltr\" title=\"Brock Lesnar vs Mark Hunt UFC 200 - Full Fight - Highlights\">Brock Lesnar vs Mark Hunt\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>From a technical perspective, it was an interesting, striker V wrestler match up.<\/p>\n<p>2 takedowns basically won Brock the fight.<\/p>\n<p>Some things that Hunt could possibly do different, or &#8216;learn&#8217; from this fight:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Take down defence against the cage<\/strong>Threaten with elbows more when defending the takedown against the cage. \u00a0Obviously Travis Browne is about 9 inches taller than Mark Hunt, but the &#8216;flappy elbow&#8217; technique is perhaps worth a go:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uproxx.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/10\/travis-browne-kos-josh-barnett-in-the-1st-of-ufc-168.gif?w=650\" alt=\"Travis-Browne-KOs-Josh-Barnett-in-the-1st-of-UFC-168\" \/><br \/>\n<em><a href=\"http:\/\/uproxx.com\/sports\/ronda-rousey-confirms-travis-browne-relationship-dating\/2\/\">Image Source<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is also a great technique for takedown defence against the cage that nobody seems to use &#8211; pulling up on one of the elbows:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/56y7umhWjxo?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;start=87&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Use one underhook\u00a0with one of your arms, and with the other, pull upwards as hard as possible, underneath your opponent&#8217;s elbow.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure whether he could side-step more and use a wizzer or an underhook\u00a0to move his opponent, so that positions are reversed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Counter the Takedown Against the Fence &#8211; Switch Positions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s possible that Brock had hold of his leg, so Hunt was unable to do so, but from 36 seconds Hunt appears to have a tight overhook, that he could have potentially used to sidestep to his right, and thrown Brock against the cage to reverse their positions:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/69-0recEf28?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;start=36&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mix things up<\/strong>Mark Hunt has the best uppercut, left hook and arguably overhand right in the division. \u00a0But his game is still pretty one dimensional. If he could make fighter&#8217;s afraid of a knee, then that would make then more conservative with takedown techniques. \u00a0A low leg kick once or twice per round wouldn&#8217;t go a miss either, inside leg kick is good for shorter guys. \u00a0Although I appreciate why this wouldn&#8217;t be a good technique against a wrestler.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ground Game<\/strong>He needs some go-to techniques from half-guard and mount by the looks of it. He either pops straight up from a takedown, or gets stuck there for the rest of the round.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Good win for Brock anyway. He looked exhausted, and as though he had an adrenaline dump in the second round, so he did well to get that final takedown.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/69-0recEf28?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Amanda Nunes Vs Meisha Tate<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>A super-explosive striker in Nunes, against a strong all-rounder in Tate.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kvbXkn1WDwY?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Such a difficult fight for Meisha; she was just beaten by a much better athlete and striker.<\/p>\n<p>Her best strategy was exactly the one which she tried to implement &#8211; grapple, smother and tire Nunes, before increasing the tempo in the later rounds.<\/p>\n<p>Fast twich,\u00a0explosive fighters, (very) often fade in the later rounds.
