For me, cutting out dairy was life-changing, and I went from using 2 steroid inhalers and a &#8216;reliever&#8217; inhaler everyday, to using none.<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, if you have asthma, try quercetin and\/or nettle as a natural anti-histamine. Chances are that you are allergic to dust or pollen and that triggers your asthma, so try a natural anti-histamine before bed or before going outside.<\/p>\n<p>Quercetin also protects your brain, which is a bonus for combat athletes (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hindawi.com\/journals\/omcl\/2016\/2986796\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ref<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Tabata Intervals Replicating MMA<\/h2>\n<hr \/>\n<p>There is no true hack (sorry) &#8211; you still have to put in the hard work. Circuit training &amp; tabata intervals that replicates MMA techniques and fundamental &#8216;compound&#8217; movements is the best way to build MMA-specific cardio.<\/p>\n<p>Tabata intervals involve working at 100% intensity for 20 seconds, followed by a 10 second break, then another 20 seconds of 100% intensity&#8230;.until you complete 4 minutes of exercises, including the 10 seconds rest.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Supplements for Cardio<\/h2>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I prefer to stick to whole-foods and holistic nutrition where possible but I still think some supplements have their place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beta-Alanine<\/strong> has a similar, acid-buffering affect on the muscles and can be used instead of baking soda or even as well as.<\/p>\n<p>As an ex-meathead, muscle-pumps, especially in my forearms were always an issue when grappling &#8211; I would lose my grip completely.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Taurine<\/strong> is very good for preventing muscle-pumps, I recommended it to my friend who does enduro-motor-cross and he said the difference was amazing.<\/p>\n<p>Take taurine and beta alanine at separate times of the day though, as they &#8216;compete&#8217; for absorption.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-3YiIl0cnKU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Exogenous Ketones<\/h2>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There is a growing amount of evidence that exogenous ketones are able to improve endurance-based athletic performance (study <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/cell-metabolism\/fulltext\/S1550-4131(16)30355-2\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>They spare glucose\/carbohydrate by becoming the main source of fuel for the body at lower intensities.<\/p>\n<p>Ketones are also great for recovery, as they reduce inflammation and enhance protein synthesis (studies\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5440563\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here <\/a>&amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4352123\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>For some, exogenous ketones can also help with auto-immune issues such as allergies and IBS.
