Ejerc\u00edtese bajo su propio riesgo.<br><br>Cualquier equipo o atleta que compita a nivel internacional sin duda tendr\u00e1 que lidiar con los desaf\u00edos fisiol\u00f3gicos que los entornos extremos pueden presentar. Seg\u00fan Maughan (1992), una p\u00e9rdida de tan solo 2% de masa muscular en un ni\u00f1o perjudica el rendimiento. Un estudio realizado por Suzuki et al. demostr\u00f3 que el tiempo de ciclismo hasta el agotamiento, con 66% de capacidad aer\u00f3bica m\u00e1xima, fue de 91 minutos a 0 \u00b0C y de 19 minutos a 40 \u00b0C. Por otro lado, Adams et al. demostraron que un corredor bien entrenado se agotaba despu\u00e9s de 165 minutos a 10 \u00b0C, en comparaci\u00f3n con 102 minutos a 35 \u00b0C.\u00a0<br><br>El cuerpo se enfrenta a diversos problemas al hacer ejercicio en condiciones de calor. Existe una competencia entre los m\u00fasculos activos y la piel por un suministro de sangre limitado. La frecuencia card\u00edaca aumenta para compensar la disminuci\u00f3n del volumen sist\u00f3lico. La redistribuci\u00f3n de la sangre reduce la cantidad de sangre que retorna al coraz\u00f3n. La incapacidad del cuerpo para satisfacer todas las demandas de flujo sangu\u00edneo provoca hipertermia. Por ejemplo, puede producirse una elevaci\u00f3n brusca de la temperatura central (entre 0,5 y 0,75 grados Celsius) el d\u00eda 14 del ciclo menstrual.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#a30005;\">Mant\u00e9ngase hidratado mientras hace ejercicio en el calor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Por cada litro de sudor perdido, la temperatura rectal aumenta 0,3 \u00b0C, el gasto card\u00edaco disminuye 1 litro\/min, la frecuencia card\u00edaca aumenta 8 latidos\/min y la percepci\u00f3n del esfuerzo aumenta r\u00e1pidamente (Coyle y Montain (1992)). La mejor manera de mantenerse rehidratado es beber peque\u00f1as cantidades con frecuencia. Beber con frecuencia acelera el vaciado g\u00e1strico, lo que contribuye a aumentar la rehidrataci\u00f3n. El agua atraviesa el intestino delgado de forma pasiva, mientras que el sodio y la glucosa se desplazan mediante transporte activo y arrastran agua consigo. Se ha demostrado cl\u00ednicamente que consumir una bebida con glucosa 5% ayuda a reducir la disminuci\u00f3n de la funci\u00f3n inmunitaria, como se observa despu\u00e9s del ejercicio intenso.\u00a0<br><br>La deshidrataci\u00f3n y el agotamiento por calor pueden ser factores limitantes en el rendimiento. Adem\u00e1s, los casos graves pueden ser fatales. Beba peque\u00f1as cantidades de una bebida de glucosa 5% con frecuencia. Tambi\u00e9n es recomendable pesarse antes y despu\u00e9s de una competici\u00f3n o entrenamiento. Reponga 150% del peso perdido; por ejemplo, si pierde 2 kg, beba 1,5 l de agua.
