It&#8217;s also found in kale.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m sure in one of her earlier podcasts, Dr Rhonda said that you can just eat the seeds but the data was clear in terms of how much of &#8216;the benefits&#8217; you get compared to growing the broccoli sprouts.<\/p>\n<p>Freezing your broccoli sprouts increases the amount of sulforaphane that is bioavailable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The Carnivore Diet<\/h2>\n<p>Is probably helping people feel better because it is reducing hunger and the overall intake of calories.<\/p>\n<p>People on the carnivore diet need to make sure they get enough folate, vitamin C and vitamin E.<\/p>\n<p>Calorie restriction has been showed to be of great benefit for those with auto-immune conditions.<\/p>\n<p>She has concerns over the carnivore diet, the effect it has on gut flora and its relationship with colon cancer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Dr Rhonda Patrick &amp; Fish Oil<\/h2>\n<p>Fish oil can help retain dopamine in the brain (in the prefrontal cortex).<\/p>\n<p>It can also be therapeutic after a traumatic brain injury (TBI) (study <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5271597\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The phospholipid form of fish oil is the best for clearing amyloid plaque from the brain. These plaques are what cause Alzheimer&#8217;s disease.<\/p>\n<p>Good sleep is also crucial for those at risk of\u00a0Alzheimer&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Dr Rhonda Patrick &amp; Ketones<\/h2>\n<p>Dr Rhonda says that she finds exogenous <a href=\"https:\/\/blackbeltwhitehat.com\/2017\/10\/29\/targeted-ketosis-for-mma\/\">ketones<\/a> reduce levels of anxiety.<\/p>\n<p>She does find that her energy crashes a few hours after taking them however. This is because she is on a carbohydrate (&#8216;normal&#8217;) diet, and ketones reduce your blood sugar. So once they&#8217;re out of your system, you have no ketones and low blood sugar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The Benefits of Saunas<\/h2>\n<p>A single session in a sauna can help ease the symptoms of depression.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the first study of 16 individuals with major depression, a single hyperthermia treatment reduced their depression scores almost by 50% five days later.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;To address this question, we conducted a second, larger study in which we randomly treated half the participants with active hyperthermia and the other half with a \u201csham\u201d treatment that mimicked every aspect of the hyperthermia treatment except the high heat. As we describe in a recently published\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/27172277\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a>, the results echoed\u00a0those found in the first study \u2013 a single session of hyperthermia produced a rapid and powerful antidepressant effect. And remarkably,\u00a0<em>none<\/em>\u00a0of this effect was seen in depressed patients who received the sham treatment. Moreover, the benefits of a single hyperthermia treatment persisted for six weeks, something that we weren\u2019t expecting.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.webmd.com\/mental-health\/2016\/07\/can-sitting-in-a-sauna-ease-depression.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Amazing<\/p>\n<p>Saunas increase levels of beta-endorphins in the body, which makes you feel good, or even euphoric.<\/p>\n<p>Saunas also reduce pain and increase anabolic hormones such as HGH and IGF-1<\/p>\n<p>They can also reduce the risk of degenerative brain conditions (study <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/27932366\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><em>personal note<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/gb\/blog\/inner-source\/201407\/cold-splash-hydrotherapy-depression-and-anxiety\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cold showers<\/a> and cryotherapy are also good for mental health.
