Wim Hof – Joe Rogan Experience

Wim Hof!  Is amazing.

In terms of his charisma, and some of the things he teaches/has discovered.

He demonstrates his breathing technique with Joe.

Wim Hof Breathing Technique

This involves breathing in, as deeply as possible, and breathing out-but just letting go

So you breathe in, more than you breathe out.

Warning – do this lying down or sitting as you can pass out or at least get light-headed

After 30 breaths, hold your breath for as long as possible. Then after you breathe out, breathe in once more and hold for ten seconds.

You have just done 1 round!

Complete for 3 if possible

The aim of the breathing is to oxygenate the blood, and increase pH.

The ‘Wim Hof Technique’- involves cold-therapy.

I believe the process/course looks like this:

week 1 – 30 second cold showers at the end of a normal shower

week 2 – 30 seconds cold at the start, and then at the end

Week 3 – 1 minute at the start and at the end

Week 4 – 5 minutes

Week 5 – 7 minutes cold shower

Week 6 – 10 minutes

To get the exact specifications, you need to sign up for Wim’s course.  Unfortunately.  Guy’s gotta make a living tho.

There’s a good week by week diary here though – http://www.timvandervliet.com/wim-hof-method-week-5-recap-week-4/

I’ve been doing cold showers and breathing techniques every morning now.

I’ve also starting drinking a small amount of baking soda in water to further alkalise the body.

There’s a tonic you can make with Apple Cider Vinegar and a pinch of baking soda here.

  • A glass of warm or hot water, because cold water could be harmful to the liver.
  • A tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.
  • A pinch of baking soda
